The Moment Is Now

You know that moment when you are riding along and suddenly, no matter what the surroundings, everything is perfect? Somehow the cadence is just right and the amount of effort is perfect and your balance is effortless. Moving feels so natural you just want to keep going because there is no doubt that this is what your body was meant to do. The wind touches your skin in just that way that turns your mind on to how amazing this moment is and you heart chimes in with "Yes!".

Today that moment occurred on Valencia between 24th and 25th streets. Where were you when that moment came to you?

  1. Yes, I know that moment and I'm happy to say too many times to count.

  3. Yes! After beginning commuting and realizing that my commute home was entirely uphill, the first day when the ride home wasn't tortuous and painful - it hit me! I looked around while riding through Golden Gate Park and realized I wasn't struggling, or out of breath, there was no painful burning in my thighs, it just felt right. I felt like I could have gone on another 50 miles. It was wondrous.

  4. Returning home from dinner one night with my husband on the urban trail. A warm night, under the stars, a light breeze, the music of crickets. All the stress that usually seems to surround me tightly was utterly gone and I felt so happily peaceful. And lucky to have someone to share the moment with.

  5. Now, the real Now, escapes the boundaries of any moment, even the present one. So beyond all those moments and places where the Now became perfect in our apprehension, though they have passed, the Now never ceases or wavers, and we never leave.

  6. Yep.. When cycling to the camp, to meet my daughter, early morning around 7 o'clock something around the speed 36-39 km/h, after I already cycled for 40 kilometres, I feel the stability of cadence, light wind, essence of surrounding forest, proximity of the lake... All mixed up in a great feeling striked just as thunderbolt...
