if you look closely you'll recognize some familiar faces in the video. heh.
as you'll recall a few weeks ago, KT and i had galavanted all over SF doing various cycle-related things while the weather was like a nice spring day back in what is technically called winter.
here is the result of one of our fridays about town.
can you see us? if you squint hard enough, i think you'll see a familiar face, or a pattern of clothes or something.
WE MADE IT!

friday fun times: we cycle SF (on a tandem)!!
there's a new event in town kids. the people who put on the SF marathon are now truing their bike wheels on a new concept: Cycle SF. it is a nice fun ride to benefit SF parks & rec. there are options for 13 mile or 24 mile rides. both of those options might seem either super "easy" or super daunting to people, but just know this FUN ride is to benefit the parks! more bike parking! more infrastructure! more costumes! more tandems! register here, and we just may see you for the costume competition.

more from their website:
as KT mentioned over on velo vogue, last friday we went to the photo shoot. if all goes well, we just might be up on a muni bus. or a bus stop. or the website. who knows.
on our way to the shoot...

blogging preparation

and finally....KT! hehe.

more from their website:
The mission of the event is to promote cycling as part of a healthy lifestyle, and to highlight and celebrate the role of our city’s Recreation and Parks Department in providing a healthy living environment. CycleSF aims to build civic unity through an event that invites bicycle riders of all levels to traverse our city together, and communally experience San Francisco’s diverse neighborhoods from the seat of a bike. Thousands of bicycle riders will raise funds to support the programs and infrastructure of the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. We are proud to have San Francisco join other cities around the nation and the globe that also host city-wide, community supported cycling events.

friday frolicking in the park with bike snob and velo vogue
continuing on the bike snob theme, it's quite possible he saw the pacific ocean on friday.
a few friends, mamakSF and velo vogue, and a music bike came along to the 2nd casting call. here's some pictures that jenn chan took.
on the way to snobbery.

not quite ready for my closeup. i need my SAG card first please.

KT took the dressing euro part very seriously. so cute!!

preparing for scene.

what is snobbier than this setting? not much.

mamakSF about to deliver bread all around town.

windmills and birds.

our golden gate park has so many beautiful nooks and crannies! the queen wilhemina garden is one of them!

speaker bike.

rookie came too!

it was such an awesome time. until i left my pannier behind. but i got it back quickly...and i subsequently passed out (in a bed) from the stress. saturday was a new day!
can't wait to see what the video will look like. did we make the cut, or the cutting room floor. we just have to wait and see.
and now will just have to leave you with the theme song to my life. ;)

friday fun times: world series edition
yeah, yeah. you heard. the giants are in the world series. again.
you heard they won the first two games.
some of us were at game one. here's some pics. enjoy!
KT stopped by the bike parking corral, because getting to and from the stadium really is easier if you ride your bike.

it's fun being a tia/cousin, cause can get outfits like this for the little one.

pedal savvy fashion show
the SF bike expo happened a couple of months ago. i was busy parking bikes so people could be bike nerds without worry. as such, i missed this fashion show. the show is produced by CYLRAB friends over at pedal savvy. also a lot of the models hamming it up in the video are part of the regular bike posse that we love so much.
so here's to SF, and as KT said over at velo vogue, "this is how SF does it."
much love to all of you. now get out and ride this weekend if the weather allows! i know i will be, well, because i live in norcal.

fall weather means fall outfits
it doesn't really ever get COLD cold here in sf, but there is definitely a chill in the air.
a couple of days ago, on one of those chilly days, i was riding behind a woman and her great outfit...
tweed jacket, rad bag, jeans and boots?! love it.
btw, she's doing one of ade's bag and foot down (AKA the SF STAND) observations.
happy friday y'all!

guest contribution: with my own two wheels
this was a post passed on to us over by KT over at velo vogue. thanks KT!!
For many Americans, the bicycle is a choice. For countless others across the globe, it is much more. For Fred, a health worker in Zambia, the bicycle is a means of reaching twice as many patients. For Bharati, a teenager in India, it provides access to education. For Mirriam, a disabled Ghanaian woman, working on bicycles is an escape from the stigma attached to disabled people in her community. For Carlos, a farmer in Guatemala, pedal power is a way to help neighbors reduce their impact on the environment. For Sharkey, a young man in California, the bicycle is an escape from the gangs that consume so many of his peers.
My Own Two Wheels weaves together the experiences of these five individuals into a single story about how the bicycle can change the world - one pedal stroke at a time. Find out when it airs at linktv.org.

here comes the rain again...
falling on my head like a memory....
one of the things i like about riding a bike is the constant challenges it brings. if you are riding loaded, you have to think differently about all the junk in your trunk.
or if you are super late to work because you were looking for your keys AND THEN it wasn't raining when you were looking for them BUT WHEN YOU WERE READY TO LEAVE it was pouring out....and you have steel rims on your older bike...what do you do?
one of my fears is going down a hill in the rain on joanie because one of the first times i did that, i crashed into a biker at the end of the hill. i was pulling my brake levers as hard as i could for most of the way down. so when i see rain and know i have to head out on my bike, i think i'd rather be doing this:
on my new commute, i have a rather large hill i'm sort of nervous to go down when it's not raining. i'm mainly nervous due to the car traffic and because not everyone who drives a car signals when they want to turn, not because of anything else. i love to bomb that hill when i get the chance. WHEEEEEEEEE....
well, today was running late, so no better time than to face that fear. rain + joanie, round one. no time to really ride in a roundabout way, so i took the plunge.
and here i am. i just went slow and steady. per usual. joanie - 1, rain - 0.
for more tips for riding in the rain, please see this video over on vimeo starring KT from velo vogue.
all fotos taken from our flickr pool! we love to see what you guys do with cameras and bikes!!

video: ramona's one minute ride
ms. wheelright, over at velo vogue and at wheelright, managed to be at the right place at the right time today to take some awesome spur of the moment footage of bombing a hill in SF with a bunch of bmx bikers.
this hill is part of my new commute. sometimes times i bomb it, other times it terrifies me, so i have to really congratulate her on the ability to capture this footage! you go grrrl!

halloween critical mass
last year the three of us who are in SF rode in the halloween critical mass. fun and lots of hijinks ensued post ride. here's a video mikael of CCC and copenhagenize made of his experiences last year, and the yours truly three are in it along w/ KT:
wow. it's been a year? really? crazy.
and here are a few of our pics from that awesome evening:
tonight it's supposed to rain (& wash away those badbadbad baseball spirits), so turn out might be lighter, but i'm sure no less fun, than last year.
enjoy the CM in your city tonight as well!

the lovely hosts of your (almost) daily CYLRAB posts have been busy spending the past few nights glued to the tv/computer/phone watching our very own sf giants win some baseball games.
most likely we'll be doing the same tonight. AHEM.
posting will most likely be light again tomorrow, if it exists at all.
in the meantime, i leave you with the biggest SF giants fan i know.... the lovely KT of velo vogue.
