So today my camera was stolen from me in front of Declan, a block from my home. The people that took it have been targeting my neighborhood for weeks. Enough is enough!
The above are the
serial numbers for my Nikon and the 50mm lens that was on it. This
camera will be floating around SF tonight. If you see it in a pawn
shop, Craig's list, EBay, Civic Center... please call Officer Amy
Hurwitz (#4146) at 415-404-4000 (because the people that shoved me to
the ground in front of my 7 year old to steal my camera have been
doing this to people in my neighborhood for the last few weeks and are
getting more violent) and reference case #130 035 533.

I'm so sorry to hear about the theft of your camera - sorrier still to hear about HOW it was taken. I'm sure you gave descriptions to the police - but if this is more than one person, alerting your neighbors to the circumstances of the theft - what they looked like, how they did it - did they approach you as a group? Or singly? Was it an ambush? - will go a long way to helping your neighbors identify a dangerous situation and perhaps avoid it, and possibly even alert the authorities to hte presence of these thugs.

ReplyDeleteAdrienne I am so sorry to read that this happened to you especially infront of your little one...I hope they catch the scumbags that did this.
ReplyDeleteI will pass on this information to my friends back there in San Francisco to stay vigilant of these lowlifes and to keep an eye out for your camera.
Again I am sorry this happened but I hope you and Declan are doing well.
taken from ade's flickr page: "Addendum per request - the thieves were in a rented, black Chevy with dark tinted windows. It is believed they have used several different rentals over the weeks. The creep that actually took the camera (the other two were in the car) was a skinny, 20ish black man, about 5'10". He was wearing a white cap and dark clothes. I didn't see his face as he knocked me down from behind and was ahead of me as I chased him back to the car. They were most likely watching me for a minute or two as I wasn't robbed until I unslung my camera which made it easy to grab. They are targeting women with obvious valuable electronics like iPhones and cameras or expensive looking bags."
ReplyDeleteInfront of a kid. Tsk. Hope they catch him soon.
ReplyDeleteYikes! So sorry to hear this happened to you and your son but glad you are otherwise unharmed.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe people would do that just to take a camera! What an awful thing for you and your son to experience!
