even NEWER wiggle signage.

so fresh off the presses, it's not even done yet folks...

Wiggle signage

ok, maybe an hour later it's done...?

looks like two intersections got the same treatment that another wiggle intersection got during the wee morning hours of bike to work week last thursday.

Wiggle it

  1. I love that wiggle. I really love this roundabout signage as that is exactly what happens in the wiggle, bikes coming from every direction. Just last month on a quick trip out there, on the one short bike ride I took, I almost got T-boned by a trio of bike ninja's +/- a block from this picture. I think admitting and embracing the chaos like this is the right step. Really.

    1. i think it will help cars who drive along that route to figure out what's going on. but i go a slightly different way to avoid the chaos that is haight and scott. so hope drivers wont expect me to follow those green signs. i take the little hill in that particular intersection.

    1. the wiggle is a popular bike route in sf in order to avoid hills. the route is a popular rush hour bike route because it both avoids hills and major traffic. sort of a win-win.

most of the wiggle has sharrows instead of proper bike lanes. these bright green sharrows can be seen as support from the city (via sf bike coalition) that bikes are a large amount of traffic on those roads. they let cars know, or at least supposed to let cars know, that bikes will be going in that direction.

the signs could also be helpful to tourists who might have heard of the wiggle, but do not know where it is because CLEAR signage is lacking. there are signs, but per ade's post last week, they are unclear.

      hope that helps!

  3. Now I get it. Sort of documenting a virtual roundabout in a traditional intersection. Very cool, thank you!
