I recommit to my efforts to be a visible, considerate and safe cyclist, not only for my life but the sake of my husband who also bike commutes and is training for a triathlon. She Rides a Bikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10269615938898501712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8810099708146569685.post-71007627296157896742011-05-07T15:57:13.838-07:002011-05-07T15:57:13.838-07:00Passing something like this is always a bit distur...Passing something like this is always a bit disturbing, but I have to admit I prefer being the guy riding by on the bike and not the guy riding the stretcher (I'm a "repeat customer" I'm afraid. 1 black pickup deliberate aggressiveness, 2 automotive failures to yield right of way. I've been "clean" for 20 years now, knock on Reynolds).

On the other hand while I've lost a friend to a fatal bike/pickup "accident" (driver drunk out of his gourd), I've lost several to fatal car or car/car accidents. Life isn't safe, so it's important to keep the risks we incur in proper perspective.kfgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8810099708146569685.post-76613107477833631422011-05-06T16:17:29.426-07:002011-05-06T16:17:29.426-07:00I've only come across one when I was an EMT in...I've only come across one when I was an EMT in college (and I was responding to the accident). Considering that I've been bike commuting in LA for 5 years and a daily rider (commute + most trips) for the past couple of years, the fact that I haven't seen more is pretty hopeful.

What gets me is when I bike past a smattering of broken headlight plastic. I see that and think, "Another reminder that cars crash and I better make sure it's not into me."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8810099708146569685.post-3142890122096983712011-05-06T09:39:28.794-07:002011-05-06T09:39:28.794-07:00ugh! i'm so lucky only my arm was fractured du...ugh! i'm so lucky only my arm was fractured due to unobservant people! this stuff makes me super frustrated! it is an infrastructure issue. oxoxkristen michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06298490297635481966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8810099708146569685.post-82140119301974481002011-05-06T09:25:07.321-07:002011-05-06T09:25:07.321-07:00I haven't seen many (knock on wood), but I ten...I haven't seen many (knock on wood), but I tend to feel sad and angry when I do. Sad for the obvious reason, and angry because I assume (possibly unjustifiably) that it was caused at least in part by the actions of one or more motorists.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8810099708146569685.post-72010171225045738362011-05-06T03:01:21.513-07:002011-05-06T03:01:21.513-07:00I am sorry to hear that you saw a sad accident in ...I am sorry to hear that you saw a sad accident in the morning.Well, I have been reading Copenhagenize.com for six month. Later I found out I knew the guy vaguely from him working at my local cafe. I hear about it in the news ever so often, and you never really hear how exactly it happened.
